Your Pre-Renovation Checklist

Are you thinking of renovating your home? Here’s a pre-renovating checklist to help you prepare.

1.      Be Prepare

·         Put together inspiration pictures to share and even specific details about appliances to make your meetings productive.

·         Images will help you translate your needs and wants.

2.      Set goals

·         Organize your thoughts

·         Talk about your goals and what needs to be accomplished.

3.      Compare Bid

·         Interview two or more companies.

·         Compare the final bids for each company.

4.      Compare Businesses

·         Be sure that you're comfortable with the idea of the contractor being in your home.

·         Be sure that you're able to meet with the foreman for your project, he or she is going to be your go to person, and so make sure you both have a good connection.

5.      Shop your bid

·         Have a finely-detailed contractor bid in hand so that you can truly break down the different costs of different parts of the project

·         Go through the contractor bid carefully

6.      Discuss the money

·         Have a very clear understanding about how payments are made and how your funds are being applied to the project.

7.      Construction is fluid

·         Your expectations for your project maybe to run smoothly, on schedule and on budget but there often times that you will hit some rough patches so you need to be understanding about any delays or changes to orders that might happen.
