Put an End to Hunger
In a bid to put an end to hunger, The Mississauga Food Bank and TD Canada Mosaic Festival are joining hands to help the city’s needy families.
The two will be collecting donations for a local food bank during the
two-day outdoor TD Mosaic Festival, set for Aug. 16-17 at Mississauga
Celebration Square. Opening ceremonies are Friday evening at 6 p.m.
Cash and food donations will be accepted at Celebration Square and food
bank representatives and volunteers will be on-site to answer questions about
hunger in the community and how residents can get help or get involved.
Guests are encouraged to bring most-needed items such as peanut butter,
canned fish or meat, canned vegetables and canned fruit and other
non-perishable products.
The MFB is the central food bank in Mississauga serving some 2.5 million
meals each year through network of member agencies. About 51 per cent of the
food bank’s clients are children under the age of 18.
Through neighbourhood food banks, hot meal programs and breakfast clubs,
The Mississauga Food Bank distributes food for more than 209,000 meals each
month.
